Shoes of Addiction

Whose shoes are you walking life through?

Take a moment to understand others’ view.

Are you the addict, fighting through the sinking sand?

Hoping someone will reach out a loving hand?

Are you the parent, watching your baby slowly slip away?

Praying for protection….begging God for another day?

Are you the sibling, clinging to the person you once knew?

Holding on to the relationship before drugs stole him from you?

Are you the innocent child whose life has been turned upside down?

Living without your father…..carrying memories you wish you could bound?

Are you the niece or nephew who only knows the stories of the good ole days?

Confused why mom desperately holds on to the things that have withered away?

Are you the grandparent, wondering what went wrong?

Stuffing your feelings and for everyone trying to be strong?

Are you the friend who won the fight?

Wishing your friend could find the healing light?

Are you the friend who sadly lost the game?

Watching from heaven, hoping life, your friend will reclaim?

No matter what shoes you wear, I need you to know….

That unresolved pain just causes an overflow.

Your pain and guilt will trickle down to the next generation….

causing scars and wounds with no explanation.

We all need healing….we all need to break the chains.

Stop ignoring and hiding and let freedom run through your veins.

Break the generational curse of addiction and pride.

Set yourself free….you deserve that peace only He can provide.

But what is even greater…..for your family, you can change the course….

Put them on a new path and lead them to the healing source.
