Covering of the Leaves

The colors of the covered trees had me so mesmerized

My world rocked when I saw it was a canopy of lies

A blanket of deceit to hide who you really are

The light of truth not getting through, remaining far

As the leaves fell, more and more of the truth was seen

My forest no longer being peaceful and serene

But rather the naked trees baring all for me to know

Bringing a pain and brokenness that feels it will never go

But I continue to come and face the naked trees

Knowing that one day there will be a healing breeze

Remembering that all seasons come and go

That the leaves will return and flowers will grow

I will see the beauty again and this time with no deceit

I will trust myself and the covering of the leaves
